Nuno Roma is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (UTL) - Portugal.

He is also working at Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores - Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa (INESC-ID), being a member of the Signal Processing Systems (SIPS) research group.

His research is mainly focused on the development and implementation of:

  • specialised computer architectures for digital signal processing (including image and video coding/transcoding and biological sequences processing),
  • embedded systems design for biomedical applications,
  • compressed-domain video processing algorithms.
